Vacancies

We constantly seek to expand our repertoire and build on our expertise.

Musicians of all ages are welcome to join the Orchestra.

We do not hold auditions, however prospective members do need to be about Grade 5 standard or higher.

We are particularly in need of string players at the moment, and are also short of percussion, oboe, double bass and brass players, although all instrumentalists are most welcome.

New members benefit from free membership for their first quarter; after that the normal membership fee is £30 per quarter.

Rehearsals

The ALO rehearses every Thursday, from 7.15 p.m. to 9.00 p,m. in the United Reformed Church Hall in Andover: http://www.andoverurc.org.uk/

Musical Director

Our director Kevin Riley has a depth of experience as a military musician and instrumental teacher, and a gift for arranging and composing.

As well as working with the ALO he finds time to conduct the Allegro Wind Band in Andover, the Clifton Wind Band, and and Mr. Snow's Trumpet Ensemble at Newbury Music Centre, as well as teaching music at Thorngrove School in Highclere.

He draws talent from the orchestra members with his own style of music, which is challenging but not daunting, and the orchestra has flourished under his strong leadership.
